Hi Bakerella! I have a question Is there a way to make Fondant Good? I made some really cute sugar cookies, but the store bought Fondant was nasty. Any thoughts? You Rock...and Happy Mother's Day!
Marisa - It sounds like it may be your crumb coat. It should be a smooth base when you adhere the fondant. You can use the buttercream to hid any imperfections and then just smooth out the surface. Try putting it in the fridge for a few minutes and then try adding a touch of water on your knife to help smooth out any imperfections.
Anonymous - My first thought is that I would try royal icing to decorate your cookies. I've been wanting to do this for a while, but haven't yet. I think you'll be happier with the taste. But if you want to try another brand of fondant, try Satin Ice.
And everyone else - I'm so glad you guys thought the tattoo cupcake was cute. I wasn't sure if it would look like one while I was making it, but I was happy when I finished it and in a lot less pain than getting the real deal.
I think this is one of this times a mom can be proud of her doughter's tatoo. ;-)
Once again, congratulations. Some times it is quite difficult for me to find the right words to express my filings about your creations because english is not my language but you have to know you always surprise me and not only me. You have many fans in Spain and we are thinking on a way to pay homage to your cake balls and mini cupakes.
That is the coolest cupcake! I love it! You've inspired me to do cupcakes for my daughter's first birthday. I'll be doing a small cake for her with your mini bite cupcakes with her name on top (like you did with Martha's). Thanks for such great ideas!
I love your site. I have always enjoyed baking but have been put off by the decorating. You have been an inspiration. You make it seems so easy. I have bought all the "stuff" to make your cupcakes on a stick.
Ps Would love to know how you came to this point, baking blogging.......
Hi! I found the best rolled fondant recipe on allrecipes.com. Instead of using glucose I used corn syrup it's so much better than store bought! Bakerella, I was so inspired by your site, I made my own!!! http://bakerscakes.site.shutterfly.com/?cid=SHARE3SXXXX danielle
I love your blog! Thank you for sharing everything is just a piece of art! I have my 4 year old daughter's Birthday to plan for so you have given me some great cupcake ideas! I will definitely be back when I have more time! Amy
Hey. I'm thirteen and I had NO idea of what I wanna do when I get out of school. I was leaning towards marine biologist but then I saw your site and you have completely solidified what I want to to be now. Your designs are so awesome, your site is on my Favourites list. Lmao. Thanks!

Hi Bakerella! I love your blog. I have a question. When I cover a cake with fondant, the cake always has bubbles. How do I avoid that?
Thanks.
That is totally awesome!!
Happy Mothers day!

So cute! That's a much better way to get a tattoo, even though it probably won't last as long! :)

The cupcake top is made of fondant. You can cut out paper shapes to use as templates. Place on top of the fondant and cut the shapes to match.
Brilliant!! Thanks for the info. :-) Happy 4th!
